The “movie poster” for the space opera project from my book Extreme Worlds. (The title logo is omitted from the artwork in the book to avoid language localization issues in other countries.)

Electric cars are the future! We need to have a 21st century WPA project that retrofits the nation’s highway system with some kind of capacitive inductance dealio so that cars draw current from embedded elements in roadway surfaces. Reduce the need for a mass of heavy batteries in the car, and charge (ar ar) drivers by the amount of current they draw.
Anyway, just an old doodle I polished up and decided to post. It’s been forever since I had a minute to do non-client work. I really miss it.

I received an advance copy of my forthcoming book “Extreme Worlds: The Complete Guide to Drawing and Painting Sci-Fi Art” from the publisher today. The graphic design and layout are terrific, I am really pleased with the work the editors and designers did on this.
The book should be out in October here in the US and a month or so after in the UK (and the rest of the world? Not sure how all that stuff works…).

Hey peeps
I sent in the final revisions to my next art how-to book a while ago, and the publisher recently sent me a shot of the front and back cover art. This one will be a little more demo-oriented than the previous book on fantasy characters. The book will be out in late October/early November and is available for pre-order at most online book sellers. Hope you enjoy it!

Hello! If this looks familiar, it’s because it’s a new piece based on the Blade Runner tribute piece for ImagineFX magazine. Anyway I wanted to do a version that’s more about a futuristic racing idea, with some of the same atmosphere as that last piece. Click on the piccie below to go to its page in the portfolio section.

From the space opera project that I’ve had on the back and middle burners for a while now; this scene was constructed using some SketchUp, some photocollage, and some regular 2D photoshoppery.
…and the raw SketchUp output:
